Heading out onto the frozen lakes to go ice skating is a popular pastime in Whistler at Christmas, but it’s also dangerous. Make sure that the temperature has been below freezing for at least a few days before you venture out and always check the thickness of the ice. You can ask locals or call a local fishing company to get updated conditions on lake freezes.
