A culinary cornerstone in the heart of Whistler Village, Araxi holds an international reputation for excellence in food, wine and hospitality, including award for 'Best Restaurant in Whistler' by Vancouver magazine for an unprecedented eight consecutive years.

Designed by renowned Vancouver architect Werner Forster the main dining room combines the warm colours of terracotta floors and handsome leather furnishings. Scattered antiques and original artworks deliver a casual elegance. Wall frescos are painted by artist David Merino. Windows look out onto the village square and in summer the eighty seat patio provides the perfect spot for people watching. The gleaming Seafood & Oyster bar was added in November 2003 and the adjoining bar and lounge, with high tables and comfortable leather stools has a relaxed, contemporary feel. The private wine room houses thousands of bottles from the acclaimed wine collection and accommodates parties of up to eighteen.

Regional menus by accomplished Executive Chef James Walt celebrate locally sourced ingredients from nearby Pemberton Valley Farms, in addition to showcasing the freshest and finest from the Pacific Ocean. Walt's innovative and skillfully executed dishes deliver intelligent compositions and exquisite flavour combinations.

Araxi's seamless service and hospitality is led by Restaurant Director, Steve Edwards, a consummate host who is passionate about providing his guests with the optimal dining experience.

The dining room offers a lively ambiance enhanced with fresh flowers, original artworks and stunning wine displays. The adjoining bar is a hot spot with locals and visitors alike, and in the summer season the heated patio is surrounded by the vibrancy of the village and picturesque mountain vistas.

Citing the “immeasurable magic of food and wine” as his inspiration, Steve Edwards is a consummate professional with over eight years of industry experience, including two years managing at sister restaurant, the celebrated CinCin in Vancouver. “We try to impart some of that magic to our guests every night” he says, “to let our food and wine tell stories of our culture and people, through regionally inspired dishes, artisan products and some of the worlds most finely crafted wines.”

With a Diploma from the International Sommelier Guild, Edwards considers himself fortunate to have access to Araxi’s highly lauded 1,200-label wine library. As well, he values the opportunity to work with Araxi’s esteemed executive chef James Walt and his “extremely talented” kitchen brigade. Edwards instills infectious enthusiasm and passion throughout his team and is committed to leading them to “deliver a new level of excellence through the 2010 Olympics and to showcasing Araxi’s style and versatility, as Whistler’s best example of imaginative, exceptional fine dining”

Well known for his easy and intuitive tableside manner, along with his astute menu and wine suggestions, Edwards has cultivated an established following. An avid snowboarder and a keen outdoorsman, he embraces the resort lifestyle and close community that living in Whistler offers.
